Denim on 2016: Young and wild generations

The Fashion Institute of Technology fit in New York city showed last December the “Denim Fashion’s Frontier”, an exposition of the most trendy and contemporary material in the fashion world: denim. As it is known, denim has been a flag that speaks the dreams and rebellion of the young generations.

Denim has climbed thru the fashion pyramid so fast thanks to icons like James Dean and Marlon Brando, and then jumped into every women’s closet, thanks to campaigns from brands like Calvin Klein that had Brooke Shields as their star back in the 80’s.

Although we think in jeans as basic clothing, trending is also influencing this textile. For spring 2016, we’ll be seeing interesting proposals regarding tints, washes, embroideries and heat transfer designs.

Ashish brand is introducing a great influence with the DIY (do it yourself) movement, using studs and cutouts on the embroidered edges. Another trending is the stamped denim from Channel or the frayed look from Chloé and Marques Almeida or flower colored retro embroideries from Holly Fulton. Also, there’s a strong inspiration from the 80’s on Marc Jacobs’ collection with washed denim jeans or light colors from Roberto Cavalli.

Even if it is a glam or casual occasion, denim is always a great option for every fashion season.

Grupo Denim, a great manufacturing company located in Laguna, México is so successful on developing any kind of new or renewed style, brands’ representatives visit them from all around the world, looking for the best finishes or even new designs from their own. “We work with the best brands in the market, we also get contracts from production that was placed in Asia because right now the customers are looking for a faster delivery dates and easiest logistics to their warehouses, they find all of that with us”, said Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal.

Make Your New Jeans Feel Softer

make your new jeans feel softer

How to make your new jeans feel softer

Jeans’ lovers know that although denim is very resistant and the color does not wash out easily, when this garment is brand now, it can feel a little uncomfortable; so many persons look for methods to make them feel softer since the beginning, as we will teach you this time.

Here are the steps you need to follow to make your new jeans feel softer:

  • Take off all of the labels on your jeans – Remember to cut them instead of pull them, that can tear the fabric, if you pull too hard.
  • Turn around your jeans; this will help maintaining the good shape on the front part of this garment.
  • Add softener to your washing machine – Do not pour it directly on your jeans, you first need to fill the washing machine with water, then add your favorite softener.
  • You can also add a cup of salt, as it works very well as a softener.
  • Do not add anything else to the washing machine, such as detergent.
  • Use different wash cycles – When you wash your jeans with detergent, you only need one wash cycle, but it would be different if you are using softener.
  • Dry your jeans – If you do not want your jeans to shrink, hang them up under the sun, if you want them to shrink a bit, use a strong drying cycle.

It is important to remember that washing your jeans often might make them shrink too much, if you do not want this to happen, do not put them in the washing machine for too long and too many times.

“A great advantage about good jeans is that they will fit in your body, so the most you wear them, the most comfortable you will feel with them”, says Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

Personal Characteristics to Be a Successful Fashion Designer

Your obsession with fashion may have you dreaming of a career designing clothes, but it takes more than a passion for red-carpet specials, fashion magazines and fashion design TV shows to make that dream real. You need broad talents such as artistic and creative skills, communications smarts and computer know-how  to get a job as a fashion designer.

Artistic Ability

Fashion designers need a flair for the artistic. A sense of how colors work together and an eye for complementary fabrics are musts. Designers also must be able to put their ideas on paper, either with hand-drawn sketches or with computer-aided design programs. In general, fashion designers need an aptitude for graphic art and design.

Creativity

Fashion designers need creativity, or the ability to use their imagination to conjure original outfits and patterns. Designers work with diverse fabrics, shapes and colors to make outfits that are distinctive, practical and fashionable. Fashion designers should be able to visualize an outfit before sketching a single stitch, possess a sense of style and have the ability to constantly dream up fashion ideas. Creativity also means developing new designs from old trends.

Communication

Fashion designers rarely work alone. As team members who work with diverse groups of people, they must communicate well. From instructing the pattern makers who develop a garment’s blueprints to advising sewers on how to build clothing, designers have to explain details simply and effectively. Designers also must communicate with shipping departments to make sure garments get to the right markets.

Computer Skills

Fashion designers don’t sketch only by hand. For large-scale presentations, they use computer-aided design programs and graphics editing software.

Detail

Attention to detail is essential. Fashion designers must be able to spot subtle differences in color or other specifics that mean the difference between a popular design or a dud. A fashion designer should also be able to handle methodical, precise work during pattern preparation, garment fittings and other detail-heavy production phases.

Fashion designers from Grupo Denim know how to build the garments they design. This requires skills in sewing, basic knitting and fabric draping, and an understanding of experimental fabric-manipulations, such as pleating, applique, layering or gathering, commented Salomón Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of  this company.

Sustainable textiles and their importance for the environmental care

Textile industry started on XXI century and it has suffered some major changes since then, biology, microelectronics and nanotechnology has made it possible for manufacturers to incorporate new process with natural fibers in order to get sustainable textiles that are very important to take care of the environment.

These sustainable textiles being considered now for multiple uses and not only for clothing, as it makes an important contribution to decrease global warming, because of the biodegradability they have, as natural fibers can biodegrade in months.

“New times have new demands and being complete aware of the importance of environmental care is vital to be able to conserve our world as we know it” was the opinion of Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, in regards to this topic.

Consumers are also more conscious about the importance of caring for environment and are starting to look for garments made of sustainable textiles, as they are comfortable, and look very similar to any other textile, the only negative side they find is the high prices they might reach at the market due to the newest technologies being used to create textiles with natural or regenerated fibers.

Textile products produce enough sources of work for more than 40 million workers around the world, so textile producers are working to get the new technologies and machinery that will help them create sustainable materials by offering competitive prices and taking care of the environment at the same time.

“It is very important to protect the environment from all possible sides, it is very exciting to see how sustainable items are getting stronger, that means awareness of the value of making changes today to take care of our planet”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

How to make the color of your jeans stay

How to make the dark color of your jeans stay

How to make the dark color of your jeans stay for a longer time

Jeans made of black or dark blue denim look great, but what everyone fears is to wash them and find out the color faded away and the rest of the clothes within the washer machine are ruined, so today we will present you some valuable advices that will guarantee the dark denim color stays at the jeans by fixing the tint on them.

“The quality of the garments made of denim depends on the type of fabric used on them, in Grupo Denim, we make sure to buy fabrics of the highest quality, and to treat the garments with the correct finishes so that the color on them stays longer after a few washes”, says Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of this company:

To make the dark color of your jeans stay for a longer time, you will need the following:

  • A plastic cuvette
  • Water
  • White vinegar
  • Mild detergent

Step 1 – Fill the cuvette with half of water and the rest with white vinegar; leave enough space for the jeans.

Step 2 – Immerse your dark color jeans on this solution for 15 minutes.

Step 3 – Turn your jeans and wash them with cold water and a mild detergent.

Step 4 – Dry your jeans as you usually do.

If you have followed these steps, the color should last longer as the tint should be fixed with the vinegar and the excess of tint should be removed with the first wash. After you have done this, when you wash your jeans again, remember to mix them only with garments made of similar fabrics and dark colors.

“The color on the jeans can last longer when they are washed correctly, so it is also important to verify the care labels before they are washed for the first time”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.

How to combine your blue denim shirt

Do you have a blue denim shirt that you like but find it hard to know how to combine it? Well, today is your lucky day as we will give you some excellent tips so you can wear your clothes with your denim shirt to make it look amazing.

“Denim shirts are comfortable, they give you enough freedom to move and the cotton makes it good to wear whether for hot or cold days”, says Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.

Here are some advices that will help you wear your blue denim shirt:

  • Denim with denim – In the past, we used to think that a denim garment should definitely be combined with everything but another denim one, but times changes and fashion is not an exception, nowadays, with all new designs and colors, we can find jeans that perfectly match with your denim shirts, as long as they are not of the same shade. Remember to mix light colors with darker ones, and avoid accessories made of denim as in this case “three is not a charm”.
  • With color – If you want to cheer up your style, combine your blue denim shirt with another color, have you ever tried it with green jeans? If you have not, try it on, roll up your sleeves, add some bracelets and look how everything fits.
  • Make it stylish – A denim shirt by itself might look as very casual, but it is surprisingly sophisticated when it is combined correctly, you can wear it with a black skirt. You can wear all type of shoes but boots, try with some heels or sandals and you will look fantastic.

“The advantage of denim shirts is that these type of garments are very neutral, so you can make lots of different combinations and both, men and women can wear them looking good with them”, added Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal in regards to this garment.

Clothing using infrared technology

infrared thermolite

Clothing using infrared technology, introduced by Invista

Invista is introducing “Thermolite Infrared” technology, a solar activated technology that allows the garments to heat when they are exposed to the sun.

According to Invista, the Thermolite Infrared technology is made from a new products pallet developed by the Thermolite Pro brand. The techonology is activated by the sun or artificial light sources, thanks to its exclusively yarns that absorbs the NIR rays to increase the temperature of the garments.

The fiber technology gives insulation and reduces heat loss helping its performance, even in cold temeperatures. The performance is constant and lasts during the life of the garment. The warming properties are designed to dry the garments faster than traditional technologies. This dry timing means that in case of the garment gets wet when wearing it, the body heat can be used to stay warm instead of helping the garment to dry, this gives more protection when the weather is extremely cold.

According to Huw Williams, Invista’s global leader for sportswear and outdoor, the consumers will enjoy the new and innovated benefits, while meeting the most high standard levels of quality and performance. The first market to enjoy this new Thermolite Infrared technology is going to be the outdoor market, with insulation for jackets, gloves, caps and sleeping bags. Others will be announced late 2016.

Salomon Juan Marcos, president of Grupo Denim, is looking forward to start new projects using this new technology, they have worked fire resistant clothing in the past, and are very familiar to handle Invista fabrics. “One of our best partners is working on a new jacket design, we are very excited to venture in this kind of products, we have worked Invista fabrics before and we have a dedicated production area that is assigned for this project, we are here to innovate for them” said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.

Natural fibers

natural fibers

What are the natural fibers?

Fibers obtained from an animal or a plant are known as natural fibers, they are mainly used on textiles but some of the fibers coming from plants can be used to make ropes as well and today we will explain further about the existing fibers.

Natural fibers are proteins resistant to organic acids, as some examples we can find the following  ones:

  • Cotton – Cotton is comfortable for clothes, it easily absorbs perspiration and water in general, it tends to shrink and fade, and cotton’s cost is relatively high. There are two types of cotton: Pima and tanguis.
  • Linen – This fiber is highly resistant and very much elastic, it is a good thermal conductor, so the weaves use to be fresh. Linen resists better than cotton and wrinkles less. There are different types of linen, depending on the type of plant, but among some the main ones we find: common and perennial linen.
  • Silk – A protean filament produced by the silkworm. Silk is a very light fiber, resistant to wet and dry traction, and it is also excellent to absorb humidity, even when it is resistant to it. A disadvantage of silk is that it decomposes with heat and light. There are several types such as: crape, done by rolling two raw silk yarns , bending two or more of them and rolling them up again. Twine, obtained by making a preliminary twist to the silk thread in a direction and rolling two or more of these threads on the opposite direction, approximately 4 twists per centimeter. Weft, made by twisting two or more threads in a direction, with 8 to 12 twists per centimeter.
  • Wool – Tends to fade out with light, but it has a mechanical resistance and elasticity. If wool wet, it can be little resistant, it is soft at touch and it can be obtained from different types of animals, such as rabbits, goats, and sheep, which are the most known to get wool from.

“Synthetic fibers are essential to textile manufacturers to create fabrics that maquiladoras will then use to manufacture clothes with different type of designs for everyone, but nowadays, some people is preferring  natural fibers, at the end, the final consumer, has the choice as to what kind of textiles they like better ”, commented Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim.
