A guide to know more about twill
There are many different types of fabrics available at the market, among the most popular we can find polyester, cotton, satin and, of course, denim, which is one of the most resistant fabrics, but this type we will specifically talk about twill, a fabric weave which is a great option to create different designs.
“Among some of the most used fabrics nowadays we can find twill, a strong and easy to handle fabric”, advised Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal.
Twill is considered as one of the best options to use when manufacturing home accessories and clothes, this tightly woven has many high thread counts that make it highly resistant to air and water. Twill is also known as the duck cloth, canvas, and sailcloth, capable to hide stains and soils much better than any other types of fabrics, thanks to the depth created on the diagonal weave of the fabric.
Garments and furniture made with twill fabric have the capability to absorb liquids better that those fabrics manufactured with plain weaves.
Another advantage of twill fabric is that it is resistant to wrinkles, so it does not need to be ironed as frequently as other fabrics.
Among the most basic types of fabrics that can be found on all wardrobes we can easily find fabrics coming from knits, twill weaves and plain weaves, all of them with different characteristics of each other. Twill weave is popular to make uniforms or denim pants, knits are mainly used on socks, t-shirts and leggings while plain weaves are commonly used to manufacture cotton dress shirts or quilting.
“Twill is highly used thanks to the multiple benefits that it offers, it is easier to repair and is resistant to water and stains, which makes it a very popular fabric”, said Salomon Juan Marcos Villarreal, president of Grupo Denim, a manufacturer company in Mexico.
